Fold At Home
When the network computers are not in use, I have them 'Folding'. Folding is a term that is used for the computer modeling of proteins interacting with them selves or other proteins. Fold At Home is a distributed computer application that models these interaction. The interactions are so complicated that a single computer would not be able to simulate one in any reasonable amount of time. So that problem is broken down in lots of smaller ones and then have multiple computers work on a small piece in order to solve the large problem.
